How to Learn English with Podcasts
Many of you may be wondering how you can best make use of all these podcast episodes to improve your English.
Today, I’ll be covering that topic and sharing some ideas and techniques to improve your English quickly while listening to podcasts – whether it’s this one or any others!
At the end, I also share my own personal favourite podcasts that I listen to each week.
Episode Summary
Here’s a summary of some of the key things I mentioned in the episode.
🎯 Finding Your Level
The perfect level means you understand the main ideas and encounter new words occasionally, but you're not exhausted after five minutes. You can always adjust difficulty using the speed toggle on your app.
👂 Active vs. Passive Listening
Active listening (like shadowing or mouthing the words) keeps you engaged and helps you absorb more. That said, passive listening still has value as it trains your ear for rhythm, stress, and natural intonation.
📝 Getting the Most from Transcripts
Transcripts are a powerful tool. Use them to check words you missed, highlight useful vocabulary, and make shadowing easier since the current word is highlighted as you listen.
🔁 Listen More Than Once
Your first listen is for enjoyment. Your second is for focus. You'll be surprised how much more you pick up the second time around.
🌱 Small Wins and Consistency
Don't panic if you miss something. Progress is understanding one or two more words than last time. Fifteen minutes a day will take you much further than a one-hour session once a week.
🗣️ Connect Listening to Speaking
Try summarising episodes in a journal, discussing them with a teacher, or even recording your own mini podcast on the topic. Using new phrases in context is what makes them stick.

Hi, Michael! Is it possible to get the PDF transcripts of the podcasts? Cheers.
Hi Raúl. Thanks for the question.
One of the main reasons I don’t post PDF transcripts is to avoid people downloading and re-posting them online, since it has happened before.
However, if there are specific episodes you’d like to see in PDF form, let me know! I can send you some.
Here is this one for example: 366 Transcript PDF
It is a very amazing episode. There are nice, golden, and beneficial tips in this episode that you will not realize how important they are unless you try them. Thanks for sharing other podcasts too, and I believe I am one of your loyal listeners.
