Level Up English Priorities Episode 330

How to Prioritise Your Life

I feel passionate about the topic of priorities because understanding how they work can have a big and positive impact on your life.

Once you decide on what your priorities in life are, every choice you make becomes so much easier. You’ll stress less other trivial, small decisions, and you’ll start seeing faster progress in your English learning, and any other skills you’re working on.

I hope you also feel inspired after listening to this episode. Let’s get started.

Episode Summary

Understanding Priorities 🎯

A priority is something more important than other things — it gets more time and attention.

  • “I don’t have time” is often untrue — it’s just not a priority.
  • Clear priorities make decision-making easier.
  • Knowing your priorities removes guilt and guides your focus.

How to Set Priorities 📝

Start by asking: What truly matters to you?

  • Choose one or two core priorities (e.g. health, family).
  • Work on them during your most productive hours.
  • Too many priorities = no priorities.
  • Let your priorities change as your life changes.

Track Your Time ⏱️

You can’t change what you don’t measure.

  • Write down how you spend your day.
  • Are your actions matching your goals?
  • Most people are shocked when they see how little time they spend on important things.

Why It’s Hard to Prioritise 🤔

Short-term comfort often wins over long-term growth.

  • Netflix feels easier than studying or exercising.
  • Decision fatigue drains your willpower — build habits instead.
  • Attach your goals to your identity: say “I am a learner” not “I want to learn.”

Final Thought 🌟

Priorities give you freedom, clarity, and peace of mind.

  • You do have time — just make sure it’s going where it matters.
  • Focus on what matters, then let the rest go without guilt.

Another nice episode. Thanks, Michael, as always. I’m really glad I chose your podcast for improving my English language and my mindset as well. I couldn’t agree more that tracking our time and plan gives us a reflection on what is really happening. As you said , I also use a simple calendar to track my plan, and I can say that it really reflects my priorities in my current life. Also, the fact that our priorities simply change and shift over time helps us to learn to be flexible and realize how it is important to rearrange them.

Thanks, Zahra! It’s a good point that priorities change and we should be aware of that. Sometimes we waste a lot of time working on the habits of old priorities that aren’t really important anymore
