Hi Michael!
Happy Lunar New Year from China, although it’s been a while since then. I’ve been listening to your podcast recently, and I’m curious—why did you move from the UK to Thailand?
I traveled to Thailand last year with my girlfriend. We visited Bangkok, Hat Yai, and Lipe Island. I think it’s a great place to visit but not an ideal place to live. The tropical nature is beautiful, but Bangkok’s streets are filled with noisy motorcycles. The seafood and fruits are delicious, but we suffered from food poisoning on Lipe Island, which was one of the worst travel experiences we’ve ever had.
So, what made you choose Thailand as your place to live, even when the UK has a stronger economy and better sanitation standards?
新年快乐!
I’ve always wanted to live abroad, and life in the UK was getting harder. Prices in the UK are going up and up – especially in London! Basically all my money went on rent and bills with nothing left over. Also blue skies aren’t so common there which really affects my mood. A job opportunity for my wife came up in Bangkok, so we took it.
Personally, I’ve never been happier since moving to Thailand. People are much friendlier, and I also got used to the noise. You also learn where to find quiet once you get familiar with the city. My neighbourhood is quite peaceful.
Sorry to hear about your food poisoning though! That would definitely ruin an otherwise good trip. Personally I’ve never had food poisoning, so the sanitation hasn’t been an issue for me, but I know some people struggle with that a lot more. But of course, travelling with food poisoning is much worse rather than living in that country where you could just rest at home.
Hope this answers your question 🙂
Hi Teacher Michael,
I just listened to your podcast, and I really loved it! You shared many great quotes: 1. Everyone is interested in their own way. 2. Ask yourself why they like it. 3. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. 4. The truth is, if you never try anything new, you will never really have any interest. 5. We have to try to know if we are truly interested in this.
I enjoyed listening to it. Thank you for working hard for us; we really appreciate that!
It would be nice to have an app just for English level “It would be easy to text you about the podcast and text all members
✨🦉 thank you again for everything you do
We kind of already have that! A specific Level Up English App is something I hope to have in the future. But we do have a Telegram group for members. If you sign up at https://courses.levelupenglish.school, you can join our Private Telegram and chat anytime. People usually use it for asking English-related questions, but I welcome most kinds of conversation there.
Ooh these are great quotes! Thanks for pointing them out. Glad you liked this one
